Hafrós Lind Ásdísardóttir, RN, RM, MSc

Hafrós Lind Ásdísardóttir completed her master's degree in midwifery in the summer of 2022 and her project focused on decision-making and respect in antenatal care. Informed decision-making played a big part there, but the projects that followed in the program were colored by the concept that became close to her heart.

Hafrós has worked as a midwife on Landspítali labor and delivery ward since graduation and has also worked in the antenatal and postnatal maternity ward during her studies in midwifery. She currently works as a midwife at the Reykjavík Birth Center and teaches courses on childbirth and breastfeeding.

"I am not one of the many midwives who wanted to be a midwife from a young age. There were many things that interested me, and after graduating from nursing I worked at the Children's Emergency Department at Landspítali. However, midwifery drew me in and I immediately felt that I belonged there. There is something so magical about the process of having a baby that mesmerized me right from the start. It's a privilege to see a family come into being and my main goal is for that moment to be empowering and wonderful"
