MIDWIFE
Ilmur Björg Einarsdóttir, RN RM MSc
Ilmur Björg Einarsdóttir completed her master’s degree in midwifery in spring 2021. Since then, she has worked at the Labour Ward at Landspítali, the Antenatal and Postnatal Ward at Landspítali, in antenatal care in primary healthcare, and in postnatal home care.
Ilmur’s master’s thesis focused on women’s birth stories after receiving holistic and continuous care during pregnancy, birth and the first days after the baby was born.
““In my work as a midwife, I have placed strong emphasis on education and information for women and families. Through education, individuals can be supported to make informed choices throughout the childbearing process and feel empowered in the many tasks and transitions it involves.
Through my work as a midwife, I have been fortunate to meet women and families with different backgrounds, values and perspectives. This has shown me how important it is to meet people where they are and to provide the best possible support throughout this beautiful process.””
