Along with another midwife, Stefanía maintains a popular broadcast about everything between heaven and earth that is related to midwifery and the process of childbirth called “Legvarpið.” Stefanía works as a midwife at the Reykjavík Birth Center and offers treatments in acupuncture. Stefanía leads the development of educational material and courses at the Reykjavík Birth Center.

“I became a midwife by pure coincidence, or perhaps it was fate. I was about to graduate as a nurse when I walked into a birthing room and witnessed childbirth. Since then, there was no turning back. There is something about a woman giving birth that is so mesmerizing to be around. What power, all so raw, beautiful and sincere. And I feel very honored to be a guest in the family’s journey. Seeing a woman during pregnancy grow and thrive as she adjusts to her role and the family is filled with excitement and happiness. And around this happiness is where I want to work, here is where I want to be.”
